Hey, bunnies! Today we’re going to make a raw vegan hot sauce. Ever since I had raw vegan buffalo wings at The Cider Press Cafe I’ve been trying to re-create them and it all starts with the sauce.
I’ve tried a lot of other raw vegan buffalo sauces and they all contain sun-dried tomatoes or some form of sugar like dates. These ingredients were giving off more of a BBQ “wings” flavor than a hot “wings” flavor for me. So I really wanted to take the time to get the sauce right.
But you don’t have to use this only on wings! You can use it to spice up wraps, in raw soups, or you can even try a little on your salad! I will have a raw buffalo sauce up later this week and you can use this hot sauce to make raw vegan buffalo wings. Everything you need is listed below to make a raw vegan hot sauce. Enjoy!
Raw Vegan Hot Sauce
Ingredients (makes about 1 cup):
1/4 cup water
4 ounces fresh hot red chilies seeded. I used Fresno chili peppers
1/2 small white onion
1 red pepper
2 garlic cloves
1/2 cup raw coconut vinegar
1 tsp nama shoyu
Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth
Strain through a wire strainer lined with cheese cloth to get a smooth liquid. This will be thin like water.
